Position Summary: Under the guidance of a Registered Nurse, is responsible for the care and safety of patients who come under his/her care. Prepares and maintains sterile supplies, instruments and equipment for surgery. Adheres to principles of sterilization, disinfection and maintains a sterile conscience and ethics. Accurately prepares for assigned procedures. Anticipates the needs of the patient and surgical team. During surgical procedures, passes instruments and supplies to surgeon and assistants and maintains an accurate account of sponges, needles and instruments.
Qualifications/Requirements
Education
High School Diploma. Graduate from a Surgical Technician school (preferred). OR Surgical experience, three (3) years or more equivalent to education.
Required licensures/certifications
Current BLS
Skills and Abilities
Good oral and written communication skills in the English language.
Experience
Knowledge of surgical, sterile techniques and instruments a must. Minimum of one (1) year Surgical Technician experienced preferred.
